One Sign, Two Stars
Taurus holds Krittika, Rohini and part of Mrigashira. Krittika and Rohini both belong to Antya. A Taurus couple with these two stars share a nadi and a sign. That is exactly the exception. Your reader marks Nadi dosha as cancelled.

Each nakshatra has four padas. Two partners in one star but in different padas pass the exception. For the nine straddling stars the padas can even sit in different signs. Krittika does this between Aries and Taurus.
